vignettes

1

It rained for a while, and then
it stopped;
there is a silence that

one can neither understand
nor measure!
You always do this to me!

2

The balcony reeks of rain!
As if the sky
has vomited the night!

Drenched, all alone, look -
A flowerpot
A man and this poem!

3

The dark bark of the trees
reminds him
of her skin; the smell

the moisture and the rain
of her body;
Suddenly, a thousand

leaves flutter in his heart!

4

The street lamps flicker;
A wave of breeze
hits him and then recedes.

As always, he stands there
all alone,
under the tree; waiting!

5

The rain has left a trail
of darkness;
Roads glistened;

And the night roared like
a wounded
tiger; Or a heart!

Bleeding, he asks, tell me
which way
leads to our home?!

6

He dreamt of a lamp; Of
Perfume; of
A flame that shone

like life; like a rain drop;
like a smile;
Like a poem; Or you!

It is just then that, someone
somewhere
says the final goodbye!

7

Soaked in the rain , the houses
stand motionless;
there's a certain sense

of peace about them; they look
like kids asleep
with mouths agape! I think

we too have earned this sleep
tonight; though
It may be, for a short while!
